During the past years a SOZ representative paid regular visits to Zambia for giving courses and strengthening ties with institutions. This approach has its limits. And even though internet access – and hence communication through email or video-conferencing – is readily available these days in Zambia, regular personal contacts are a necessity.
During the years the need for more intensive contacts grew, as did the number of institutions that called upon SOZ's expertise. The foundation was therefore pleased to find a good local representative in the person of Given Sichilima.
Given is the founder and CEO of NexaDeal, a young company focusing at ICT consultancy, training and project design and management. He recently graduated for his masters in Computer Science with a thesis on the application of Artificial Intelligence for an early prediction of diseases in chicken farming. He chose this area of specialization when getting fascinated by the possibilities of AI and the integration of computers in all kind of tools after attending one of the SOZ courses.
SOZ is very pleased to have Given on board. He not only ensures that local contacts run more smoothly, but also brings in valuable knowledge on both the local situation as the use of computers in technical application. In addition, he has (limited) time available to give courses at universities and secondary schools. SOZ hopes and expects to have a long-term co-operation with Given and his colleagues.
